Patients ask me this all the time: Is a facial really worth it, or is it just a spa thing? It's a fair question — especially when you're trying to be smart about where you put your time and money. The honest answer is that it depends entirely on which facial you're talking about. A DiamondGlow® facial in Yuma isn't a relaxation treatment with a fancy name. It's a clinical tool, and whether it belongs in your skin routine depends on what your skin actually needs.
DiamondGlow® is a non-invasive in-office treatment that combines diamond-tip exfoliation with the topical infusion of SkinMedica® Pro-Infusion serums. Three things happen in one pass: the diamond tip resurfaces the top layer of skin, a vacuum channel draws out debris from the pores, and a serum is simultaneously infused into the freshly cleared skin.
That last part is the piece most people don't expect. The exfoliation step opens the door; the infusion step walks through it. By delivering a concentrated serum while the skin surface is actively being treated, you're not just cleaning — you're replenishing.
What this is not: it's not a deep resurfacing procedure. It won't address deep acne scars the way SkinPen® microneedling will, and it won't correct significant laxity. That's not what it's designed for. What it does exceptionally well is maintenance — keeping skin cleaner-looking, hydrated, and responsive between more intensive treatments, or standing on its own as a low-downtime option for patients who aren't ready for or interested in a more involved protocol.
The treatment is suitable for most skin types, and the serum selection is customized to what your skin needs that appointment — which is part of what makes it versatile. That said, some patients see a more immediate and consistent benefit than others.
Dry or dehydrated skin responds well because the infusion step addresses moisture deficit in a way that surface moisturizers can't replicate — dull, uneven texture responds because the exfoliation removes the dead-cell layer that diffuses light and makes skin look flat — congested or enlarged-appearing pores clear without the inflammation that aggressive extractions can leave behind. Patients preparing for a specific event benefit from the fact that there's no downtime; DiamondGlow is a reasonable choice in the days before a wedding, reunion, or photograph. And for patients between bigger treatments — a series of Opus Plasma® or laser work, for example — DiamondGlow can support skin condition in the intervals.
I'm also thinking about timing here. We're heading into Yuma's longer sun days, and patients who've been dealing with a winter buildup of dullness — dry air, indoor heating, less humidity — often find that a targeted exfoliation and infusion session resets the skin before they shift into full sun-protection mode for summer. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends consistent exfoliation as part of a year-round skincare routine to support cell turnover; doing it in-office with a targeted serum infusion is a more controlled version of that.
SkinMedica® Pro-Infusion serums are formulated specifically for use with the DiamondGlow device. This isn't a generic serum applied during exfoliation — the formulations are designed for the specific delivery mechanism, meaning the actives are selected and concentrated for infusion rather than surface application.
The serum your provider selects is based on your skin's primary concern at the time of your visit. Common options target hydration and barrier support, brightness and uneven tone, calming and redness reduction, or pore clarity.
This is also where the consultation at the front of your appointment matters. The few minutes spent talking through what your skin has been doing lately — whether you've been traveling, stressed, using a new product, or noticing something specific — informs which serum gets used. It's a clinical conversation, not a checklist.
One of the most common things I hear after a DiamondGlow treatment is that patients weren't expecting to look as bright and smooth immediately afterward. There's typically a brightness and smoothness that's visible right away — not redness, not peeling, not the kind of recovery window that requires you to schedule around.
For a medical facial in Yuma, AZ where the summer sun exposure starts early and hard, that matters. Most energy-based treatments require avoiding direct sun exposure for a period post-procedure. DiamondGlow doesn't carry that same restriction in the same degree, though we still recommend good sun protection as a baseline — not because of the treatment specifically, but because consistent broad-spectrum SPF is foundational to preserving any skin investment, especially in a high-UV environment.
What this means practically: you can schedule a DiamondGlow treatment and go back to your day. That's a real consideration for working patients, parents, or anyone who can't take recovery time.
When a patient comes in for a DiamondGlow® treatment at Enhance Aesthetics & Wellness, the visit starts with a brief skin assessment. We look at what the skin is doing that day — texture, hydration, congestion, tone — and select the SkinMedica® serum accordingly. The treatment itself runs approximately 30 to 45 minutes and leaves the skin noticeably brighter and smoother.
For patients who are newer to medical-grade skin care or who haven't had an in-office facial before, it's often a good entry point — a way to see how the skin responds to professional-grade exfoliation and infusion before committing to a more involved protocol. For existing patients, it fits naturally into a maintenance plan alongside whatever else they're doing.
If you're unsure whether DiamondGlow is the right fit or whether a different option from our skin treatments menu would serve you better, that's exactly what a first consultation is for. We'll look at where your skin is, talk through what you're hoping to address, and map out what makes sense — starting with the simplest effective option, not the most intensive one.
